I'm Sampreeth. I ship AI and direct films.
I build the systems a dental implant practice runs on, and I make films.

Projects
Things I've built. Most of them run a dental practice.
About
An engineer who happens to make movies.
I'm an AI engineer who likes building things right next to the people who'll actually use them. After my MS at NYU, I spent the last few years as the only engineer at a dental implant company, shipping real systems people use every day, not demos. I also make movies, which is where I learned to work with people who don't write code.

Work
One engineer, four kinds of work. Same habit in all four: sit next to the person with the problem first.
AI Engineering
RAG, agents, evals and guardrails. Systems that answer honestly or not at all.
OpenForward-Deployed Engineering
Sitting with the people who have the problem, then shipping what they needed.
OpenMachine Learning Engineering
PyTorch, vision, RLHF and forecasting. Models trained, shrunk and shipped.
OpenSoftware Engineering
Python and TypeScript. APIs, pipelines and infrastructure that stay up.
OpenFilm
Gray characters and tight spaces. The chaos hiding inside ordinary lives.

Among Monsters
An independent crime feature I wrote, directed, edited and scored, shot across New York between work weeks.
Writing
Notes from the work. Real numbers, real screwups, real fixes.
Teaching
What I've learned, written down. Free guides for engineers who ship AI.

The RAG Compass
A visual, first principles masterclass on retrieval: one mental model that runs from a bare baseline to what the best companies ship in production.
Read it
The AI Engineer's Handbook
A working guide to building AI systems that ship: retrieval, agents, evaluation, and everything around them.

Hiring for applied AI, or the last mile where software meets the people who use it? I'd love to hear about it.
